John 12:1-8, “Whose Perfume is it, anyway?”Jesus went to a dinner party at the home of his friends: Mary, Martha, and Lazarus (whom he had raised from the dead). Mary took her best, perfumed ointment and wiped it on Jesus’ feet with her hair. She knew that being in the presence of Jesus was always a special occasion, and so she gave him her best gift. She did not wait for the day of his burial to anoint his body, but she shared her expensive perfume with him while he could smell it. As we enter into the last two weeks of Lent, I challenge each reader to meet Jesus in the fellowship of friends; take your best perfume or cologne with you and give it away.

Suffering is an inevitable part of the reality of the human condition. The only way through suffering is through. All of us will experience suffering at some time in our lives. if you haven't thus far, just keep on living. During Holy Week I encourage each of you to read the Passion of Jesus Christ found in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Meditate on Jesus' journey to the Cross. I pray that you will find strength for your journey. I pray that you will discover redemption in Christ's salvific act of sacrifice. Reflect on the following question and share your comment with us. What does it mean for you to pick up your cross and follow Jesus?

Dear Dr. Outlaw,
What a privilege it was to worship with your church this past Sunday. I came away blessed with the experience of your community. The Sunday School class on Ruth was enlightening, especially since I've just finished leading a Bible study on Ruth. The liturgy and community of the service makes everyone feel apart of God's Kingdom. I enjoyed kneeling down for prayer at the front of the service, I took great delight in Christian's drum solo, and waving the palms at the end of the service was the final 'amen' to a great worship service. These things don't happen accidently. It takes perseverance, discipline, and God's Spirit to bring all this together. Heaven will be a wonderful place. And your website looks rather impressive!
Blessings,
Virginia (and Doug) Webster

Happy Easter! The word for this season is "He got up!" John 20:1-10 says that Mary went to the borrowed tomb to finish the burial rites of Jesus sometime between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM on Sunday morning. When Mary arrived at the tomb, she noticed that the stone boulder which covered the tomb was missing, and the tomb was empty. Where was Jesus? "He got up!" Jesus was not in the tomb. He got up just as he said he would. However, he left convincing evidence for those persons who need such evidence. He left evidence so that Mary, Peter, and John could testify to what they had seen. Blessed are those who believe without evidence. Blessed are those who believe by faith that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Romans 10:9 says, "If you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved." Read John 20 in its entirety for more details about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I am grateful to God for the work you do in His Vineyard and I pray for your continued strength as" you fight on until victory is won." But in a real sense, victory has already been won because you have placed your faith in a God Who has promised never to leave or forsake you. Stay strong sister girl. Love you.

Dear Dr. Outlaw,
what a privilege and pleasure it was to visit your chuch and hear a sermon that seemed so fitting for the season. I came back to Atlanta and went to church here at Morningside Presbyterian this past Sunday. Our pastor, Rev. Chris Henry delivered a sermon using the same text, Luke 17:11-18 that you preached at St. Paul a week ago! To my surprise and delight the name of his sermon was "Please and Thank you." It seems to me that you fabulous ministers have a divine connection when it comes to preaching the Word! All I could do was smile and think to myself--well I heard an excellent sermon about saying "Thank you" last week.!!
Now, I wonder, are we Presbyterians a week behind in the lectionary or are we just behind?!!

Again, thank you for a lovely time in Alabama! Keep up the good work at St. Paul and let your parishioners know how very much I enjoyed the entire service and meeting them.

All the best and tmay he peace and blessings of Christ be yours, Juarlyn
